Teaching the Complex Geometry of the Spine

The German Spine Congress took place in Stuttgart from December 5 to 8. spontech spine intelligence AG pursues a fundamentally new, systemic approach to spinal surgery. In contrast to previous methods, the aim is the plannable restoration of the individual spinal geometry. Design and Systems developed an interactive installation that conveys the basic principles of this innovative approach.

The complexity of the spine and its therapeutic requirements in spinal surgery can only be treated sensibly using a system approach. At Spontech, the vertaplan software developed in-house is an integral part of comprehensive planning. Vertaplan is used for preoperative planning and intraoperative assistance in the optimal adjustment of spinal geometry. To convey the complex know-how behind this system, we developed a real-time 3D application that makes the planning steps quick and easy to grasp.‍
