An Interactive Application for the “Oculus Rift VR glasses”

A VR application was developed for the Missionary Medical Institute that conveys the topic of ‘mother-child health’ from the perspective of the Congo and Western countries. The viewer experiences both worlds immersively through the VR glasses and is taken on a journey to Buma, a village in the Central African Congo. There, they follow the story of a pregnant girl.‍

The situation of a pregnant woman in Würzburg is shown in parallel through a ‘change of view’ in virtual reality. Interaction with the application takes place exclusively through head movements, allowing the user to switch between the two worlds at any time.‍

The application was first presented at the Katholikentag 2014 in Regensburg.
