Augmented reality on the Windshield

The Mercedes DICE project (Dynamic & Intuitive Control Experience) from 2012 was a pioneering concept study that showed how driving could be organised in the future. DICE presented an intuitive, gesture-based user interface that linked the vehicle with the digital world. Drivers could control various vehicle functions such as navigation, infotainment and vehicle data with simple hand gestures.‍

The system used augmented reality to project important information directly into the windscreen, enabling seamless interaction and improved safety at the same time. ‍With DICE, Mercedes-Benz demonstrated its innovative strength and the vision of a connected, interactive and user-friendly driving environment.
